I really like a cactus or two, and when this week's drawing challenge was "cactus" I knew I had to join in.
My mom had given me a barrel cactus that bloomed many times this past summer. I enjoyed it so much, so decided to draw a blooming cactus - although I did not choose the barrel cactus.
This week I stumbled across this wonderful website that has beautiful terrariums with cactus in,
And although I didn't have the beautiful jar, or quite the makings that he had. I used pieces of succulents I had, and made myself a terrarium. I left lots of room for them to grow... which I hope they do.
It makes me smile!
To see more artistic interpretations of "cactus", head over to this weeks host of the drawing challange.
Isn’t it nice to do something just because it makes you smile? I love your little homemade terrarium! <3
ReplyDeleteDear Kim,
ReplyDeleteI like your drawing a lot... those blossom is marvellous!
and, wouldn't it be nice to have a huge terrarium like you've done for the succulents for you among that temperatures outside at your place?!
Stay warm,
cheers,
Ariane.
Very good drawing and lovely little miniature garden!
ReplyDeleteThe little garden is magical and wonderful Kim! Your drawing is a study in line. My eye travels the lines enjoying every section. Love this. So clean and honest. Hugs, Norma, x
ReplyDeletep.s. I found my jar of wax the other day, so I just have to give your wee mug a shine and then I'll get it into the mails to you. I'll keep you 'posted.'
that a wonderful drawing! don't think it funny either, but i'm slightly reminded of churros, and altough i am not a huge fan of those fatty companions, i can smell them!!!!
ReplyDeleteha ha ha...

I agree with Nadine, that is a truly wonderful drawing. And the terrarium was a bright idea: cactuses are nearly as dangerous as snakes I think. Maybe I would dare to keep a cactus or two if I planted them in a jar where no fingers would get hurt! :)
