Composition and Collage

I am taking an online "Composition for Collage" class with Claudine Hellmuth. It is week one of a 4 week class, and I have only managed to get one collage done.

Claudine talked about collage being like a puzzle, and this one had me stumped for quite some time.

I changed just about all of the elements that I was working with from the time I started until it was finished.

But I was really happy with how it came together in the end.

  1. I love the natural colours you use in your work and this collage is beautiful. Can I ask you what you used to stick the leaf down as I have a pressed poppy I would like to use but I am afraid of spoiling it.

  2. Excellent! The colors, the simplicity, the story...they all draw me in. Thanks for sharing this.

  3. It looks great. You always create such lovely pieces and all the natural elements are fab.Beautiful.

  4. leaving the background white made for a striking composition. well done!

  5. Hi Kim,

    Keep healing. :)

  6. Simply beautiful! Enjoy the class, sounds like fun!

  7. oh wow.. I adore this collage! Glad to found your blog via Pinterest ... great!

  8. It is so nice to use your natural finds in the collages. You make it look easy andi I am sure it takes lots of time and thought to finally achieve the final composition.
Nice to see what you have been doing and well done getting your book into the magazine , very inspiring. Look forward to seeing more of your beautiful work.

  9. I have always loved the colors you use. The round shape looks like a face with one eye...very cool!
