Different And The Same

I sat down at my desk the other night with an urge to create.  And I wanted it to be different then what I have been creating.

And this is what I created.  It is a bit the same, as it has a bird in it... a bird that I drew quite some time ago, and have since used in many creations.

But the rest of it is quite different.

As always I like to see how it looks in a matte.

I created it using some white acrylic paint, and my pan pastels.

  1. Lovely work - and you have inspired me! I have pan pastels I got last Christmas - I hadn't thought to use them as a colorant! Hmmmmm!

  2. This is so pretty! I just got some Panpastels too and I can't wait to try them. I got the seascape set, but now I want some earth tones too! I enjoy your artwork so very much. I've been checking your blog daily for a couple of months now, and everything is simply beautiful.

  3. Hi Kim, I wondering if you painted on a textured piece of paper or if you worked up the texture yourself with paint and pastel? Whatever you did, your bird is lovely! Take care.

    1. Hi Carole,
This piece was created on a piece of paper out of an old book... so was full of text. I then built up a number of layers of paint and pastels before the final painting evolved.

  4. Lovely bird! Putting it in a mat is always the finishing touch, isn’t it? (I covet your pan pastels! LOL)

  6. I've never heard of Pan Pastels? But they are beautiful here - a very tender bird.

  7. I like the white! And don't you just love those pan pastels? I could really go crazy with those. I was just at the art supply store today and was drooling over all the color choices. I have 5 colors, but I want ALL of them! Ahhh, to dream.

  8. What I love here the most, (besides the beautiful bird) is the milky white background. There is a different feeling here. But still so much speaks of you. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
