I have been wanting to create some pieces that don't need framing, so I took a wooden cradle board (shallow wooden box) that my husband made for me and used tea bags, paint, pastels, ink, charcoal and cold wax to create this piece.
I like how it looks hanging straight on a wall - no glass - no mat - no frame.
What a beautiful piece of art you've created It's really, really stunning!
ReplyDeleteNO, it certainly doesn't need framing! GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I like all of what you like about it. But what I absolutely like the most...is the seeds spilling forth from the plant pod. Awesome stunning work Kim! N, x
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how this looks hanging on the wall ~ wish it was on my wall! gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! (Could I persuade your husband to make some cradle boards for me? LOL)
ReplyDeleteThis looks super! Did you make the sides a bit darker than the main image? It seems to read that way in the photos which also adds to the look of a natural frame.--Julie
ReplyDeleteI did darken the edges of the front with a bit of brown ink. The edges of the boxes are slightly darker then the front, but not too much.
Deletekim, kim, kim... you make THE most gorgeous stuff!!!!!!! i just love everything about this... everything.

This is beautiful. I love the colors, love the seed pod...I love it all, stunning!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely - I especially like the board as a way of displaying - so right for the style of the pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love work that stands alone without the use of a frame and this piece is beautiful! I love the faint text behind the layers and the muted tones you have achieved. :)
ReplyDeleteA stunning piece, love everything about it, including the fact that it needs no frame.... just my kind of art, it looks wonderful. I too found you via Ellie, so glad I did!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful...makes the wall look like it is in a gallery!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, your piece looks wonderful on your wall without a frame.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine a set of them hanging in a row either vertically or horizontally. Totally gorgeous!
Happy Easter weekend to you.
Wonderful, Kim - I wonder, how big?
ReplyDeletehappy easter, sus
Beautiful work! Enjoyed looking through your blog.
ReplyDeleteAnother good one Kim...the blue circles are a nice touch to all the earthy tones you use often in your work.
