Book Binge II

I am still busy making hard covered books

But these one are much smaller in size then the ones I showed last week. 

I still used water colour paper for the pages

as this makes the pages able to support a variety of techniques.

I decorated the covers with some layers of stamps

some paint - some bits of paper

and a final decorative layer of my hand carved stamps.

Four more items to add to my 'completed' pile

 for the upcoming sales I am attending.

(unfortunately the uncompleted pile is still very very big - so much to do, so little time!)

Bookmaking Binge

Since I made hard covered journal style books in a book making workshop 

just over a month ago, I have been wanting to make more of 

these type of books.

And I finally had some time to do that

Below are images of the three hard covered journals I recently finished.

These books are about 6.5 X 10 inches when closed  - pages about 12 X 9.5 inches when open

The inside pages are made with watercolour paper

and can be painted on, glued onto, or drawn onto with a variety of mediums.

The outside covers are decorated with paint and ink as well as paper I decorated, 

and copies of my drawings or photographs .

I am now finishing up some small books that I hope to share soon.

A definite bookmaking binge!

A Wee One

One day I should try to work big.

But not today.

Fundraising For Bicycles

My oldest daughter is heading to Africa 

and will be pedaling her bike from Egypt down to South Africa!

She is trying to fund raise to donate bicycles

 to community support workers in each country she goes through. (10 countries!)

In order to help her in this venture,

I carved a bike stamp, and made some cards

that I am selling locally as well as in my Etsy Shop.

All money will go towards buying bikes.

I also made a little accordion book using my hand carved stamps

and if it sells, the money will assist in buying bikes.

My New Idea

I decided to try making a small day timer

In which you only carry around three months of days at a time.

Each page is one day 

&

at the beginning of the year you carry around January, February and March.

Here are the other nine small booklets for each month

At the end of January,

 you remove the filled January booklet,

move February and March forward and add April to its place.

A small day timer

that is easy to carry around, 

and still contains lots of space to write

One Thing Leads to Another

One idea often leads to another,

and the cards I made with tea bags

and my hand carved stamps lead me to making these little books.

Some of them have a subtle bit of colour added

And some of them are just the colour of the tea bags.

Inside are pages of different shades

some with copies of my stamps and drawings.

And now I have a new idea to start working on.

Production Time

It is the time of year when I need to buckle down 

and produce items for the 2 Christmas Fairs I participate in.

So I made some cards with coloured tea bags

and my hand carved stamps.

So many of my hand carved stamps are plant based.

 

And yet the one I really enjoyed playing with on these cards

was this funny little house I carved onto an eraser a long time ago.
