Daily Creative Sessions - Take Ten

Recently, I set myself a goal  -  daily 10 minute creative sessions. 

and this is what my 10 minutes turned into the other day.

Okay - this took me way more than 10 minutes to create, 

but that is how it started.  

The pages in this little book are pockets....

and inside the pockets are mini blank books.

At the moment only the pockets are decorated

..... eventually the mini books in the pockets will have something on them as well.  

During my next 10 minute creative session I thought 

I should make these at the visual journaling group I host on Tuesday nights.

So I created a less time consuming version to share if they are interested.  

If you haven't anything to do on Tuesday night 

and are in my neighbourhood

2017 Weekly Journal

I made a new journal at the beginning of  2017.

I decorated the front and back covers with scribble drawings. 

Inside there are enough pages to make one spread per week for 2017

Here is week 2 completed

and week 3 completed

and the beginning of week 4 (January 23 - 29).

I start the page by gluing a few things down, and then write and decorate

 a bit each day - finishing the page on the Sunday of each week.

Hopefully I make it through all 52 weeks 

and share some here throughout the year.

Work & Play

Finding a balance of work and play is important to me, 

and sometimes difficult to do. 

We own a small rustic styled shack on a few acres of land on the shores of this lake, 

and have spent many family hours there. 

But the shack was in desperate need of some work, 

so my hubby has been spending some time giving it some well deserved TLC.

I joined him this past weekend, and helped him where I could. 

I also spent some time at my outdoor table creating in my 

'For the Love of Play' journal.

While I was there I finished the page on the right (I think it is finished....) 

The other pages I am showing here I have worked on during the past couple of weeks. 

It was a perfect blend of work & play.

Creativity Reporting for Duty

I have been so busy the last few weeks, 

that I have had no time to create. 

Usually when this happens I get really grouchy,

but I told myself to hold on, 

knowing I would eventually have some time

 to return to some creative endeavors. 

Last week I managed a bit of time to 

do some journal play. 

And yesterday I used the above photo that I took last fall

and changed it on the computer.

I then printed a couple of copies of it, and made a book,

using the image to decorate the cover.

I am happy that my creativity was able to report for duty

 when I had some time to create. 

Creative Play

There hasn't been too much creative playing happening 

in my neck of the woods lately. 

But I have added a few creations in my journal

'For the Love of Play'

This was the first addition of the year.... 

I was planning to fill all of the pages in this book 

by the end of 2016. 

At the rate I am going that won't happen.

But the real goal of this book

was creative play - create just for fun. 

No expectations. 

And that goal has happened 

on each of these pages.

A Stack of Journals

Here are the journals that I have on the go. 

Actually the top one is full and I blogged about it not long ago.

The next one in the pile is a handmade book

I made a few years ago. 

 I decided to use it to stick bits of leftover pieces

that end up on my desk in

and then draw or paint or collage from there. 

The next book in the stack is one I have shared before, 

and I haven't added anything in it this year yet.... hopefully soon!

I have been taking an online class with Katie Kendrick

in which we used an old book to collage bits of paper to, 

and  then painted or collaged onto.

This is the final book of the stack.

I shared a few pages that I completed in it here 

All but one of these journals was started in 2016.

So many pages yet to fill..... so little creative time!
