Daily Creative Sessions - Take Ten

Recently, I set myself a goal  -  daily 10 minute creative sessions.

and this is what my 10 minutes turned into the other day.

Okay - this took me way more than 10 minutes to create,
but that is how it started.

The pages in this little book are pockets....
and inside the pockets are mini blank books.

At the moment only the pockets are decorated
..... eventually the mini books in the pockets will have something on them as well.

During my next 10 minute creative session I thought
I should make these at the visual journaling group I host on Tuesday nights.
So I created a less time consuming version to share if they are interested.

If you haven't anything to do on Tuesday night
and are in my neighbourhood
- feel free to join us in the art room of the local school.... :-)

Nice Mice

I made some Very Nice Mice!

The very talented Ann Wood
has generously offered up her pattern for Very Nice Mice free on her website.

Once they were made, they wanted to dress up
and have a photo shoot.

From the Very Nice Mice and me
we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!

Letting in Some Light

I needed to create today....
even though I had many chores that were supposed to get done.

So I took a piece of my handmade paper
added layers of paint
and then with pencil, charcoal and pen had some fun creating.

I put it behind a mat to see if it was finished
and after some small tweaks, decided it was.

The process of creating brightens my day.

Art Exhibition

Our art show - Winged Tales -  has opened and will be up for the next 3 weeks.
How wonderful to have a curator take care of the advertising, setting up and many other details.

Along with my work, my friend had her beautiful linocuts on the wall.
I have some photos of her work, but have not asked her permission to show them,
and therefore will just show you images of my creations.
Together the whole room looked beautiful,
my pictures do not show it well

We had put out gloves beside the books,
and all evening I joyfully watched  people slip the gloves on
and gently look through the books.

I received so many kind words about my creations.

And here are the details of one more of the books

This book only had a few pages,

But I love the way it sits open

to show itself off.

A Wee Bit of Joy

I am finishing up a number of creations for my upcoming exhibition
but this little item is not one of them.

This tiny wee little book was a small by-product of the bigger creations.
It brought me joy to create.

How I love making wee things!

Handmade for Christmas

Very close to Christmas I decided to make
my daughter
a pair of moccasins.

I have only made a pair or two before
so I needed to be brave.

I finished these off in the last minutes of Christmas Eve.

Leather decorated with bits of felt
were hand stitched together,
and finished off with a wrap of
beaver fur.

They made her smile.

Which made me smile.

Procrastination

I was supposed to be cleaning my studio.
I found some strips of card stock to be put away
and then I found some weathered paper that I had painted and stamped on

And ... well, things did not get put away
the urge to create with them was just to great and I followed along

Until this appeared.

'What FUN that was' I thought,
now I better get back to cleaning.

Next I found my charcoal pencil
and an old dictionary that I had ripped some pages from.

And .... well - more creating had to happen.

and I drew

and I drew
and I coloured and I painted

Until this happened.

And then it was time for bed.
