Well it has taken me more time than you can imagine, but here is another piece that I have created on plaster. I do not consider myself a painter, and always have to draw in detail before I add any paint.
So underneath this flower is a drawing .... hopefully the more I do it the less I will need to draw the details before I add the paint. It is so very challenging for me, which can be mentally tiring - especially after a full day of work at the day job. If I am struggling with it when I go to bed, I play it over and over again in my mind how to fix it... and then sleep aludes me. If it is going well when I go to bed, then I smile, and happily go to sleep.
For now I must sleep, and will hopefully have time tomorrow after the day job, to begin on another new plaster piece. We will see, it may be time to work on something different for a change.

I think your piece is lovely. It is a challenge to try something outside of our comfort zone. And to work a full day job and then create at night...well kudos to you. It shows your determination to succeed. I hope you are very proud of this piece. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company. Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Botticelli, Monet……(I could go on) They all sketched their layout before painting. (They have discovered these ‘under paintings’ in some of their works.)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you ARE a painter! You do lovely work and have a very distinctive style that is just beautiful.
Get some rest and don’t be so hard on yourself! We all have the ‘night time demons’ but in the light of day things seem to work out. Enjoy the journey!
Hey Kim, this piece just makes my heart soar! Really. it's stunning, you should be so proud of all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteA day in the life of an artist:) Lovely. lovely work.
