Things to Share

I often have a big 'To Do' list, and at the top of my list a few days ago was to write a letter to an elderly friend of mine.

I wanted some nice paper to write to her on, but I didn't have much time. So I took a page out of a glossy used book I had bought for $1, and with an old envelope as a template, I made an envelope out of it.

With the scrap pieces I had left over, I decorated a couple of pieces of paper to write the letter on.

When I had written the letter, I tucked it inside the colourful envelope and popped it in the mail.

The other thing I have to share is about the newest edition of Somerset Studio. Last January I took an online course from the very talented Misty Mawn, and she wrote an article for this magazine.

And to my happy surprise my artwork was in it!(bottom two pictures) She had invited people to send her some artwork for her article, but I also knew she had received a lot of different people's work, so was not expecting to see mine.

and even though they spelled my name wrong in the magazine I am smiling from ear to ear!

  1. Thats a lovely idea for letter writing Kim. And congratulations for the publishing.

  2. Beautiful envelope and stationary - your friend is going to be so happy to receive your letter! There's a quote I love by Phyllis Theroux - 'To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.' I think you really accomplished that!

And congrats on being published -- again! Your artwork is beautiful - not surprised she chose it for her article!

  3. Hip Hip Hooray Kim! Bravo. Take many bows. Accept much applause. Smell the dozens of bouquets thrown at your feet. Very nice indeed. Love your work always. Love that so many more out there in this world of ours gets to see it! *smiles* Norma

  4. Way cool! You're published again! Congratulations! (and your letter/envelope are lovely!)

  5. I love the idea for the stationary. And congrats on being in Somerset! I love that mag. And of course she picked your art... it's gorgeous! Congrats again.

  6. Hey Kim, I bet you were very thrilled to see your art in Somerset ... it is truly beautiful! as is the envelope and paper for your friend.
You are so inspiring with all that you do and the wonderful way you do it!

  7. Golly, glad I kept going through your posts. Big kudos and chocolate bars to Somerset with Miss Mawn...that is fantastic. I will check out the magazine at bookstore!!! And the letter you sent to your friend is really such a thoughtful gesture. She will treasure the handmade with love stationary and the letter. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Congratulations!
I'm taking an online workshop with Misty Mawn in the New Year. Looking forward to it!
