Some New Books

This week my creative time was spent
making some new little books.

You can see the one I made and filled earlier this year,
and the two new ones ...... waiting to be filled.

These books are quite small

and have accordion style pages.

I am now debating
whether to put them up for sale
or fill them myself.

I want to share another NEW book. . . .
Roxanne Evans Stout's new book has just been released in the U.S.A.
and will be available in Canada in a couple of weeks.

I can't wait to see it!
Not only because she included a creation of mine in it,
but because I LOVE everything Roxanne creates,
and know that there will be so much to enjoy
in both the images and the words.

A Stack of Journals

Here are the journals that I have on the go.
Actually the top one is full and I blogged about it not long ago.

The next one in the pile is a handmade book
I made a few years ago.

I decided to use it to stick bits of leftover pieces
that end up on my desk in
and then draw or paint or collage from there.

The next book in the stack is one I have shared before
and I haven't added anything in it this year yet.... hopefully soon!

I have been taking an online class with Katie Kendrick
in which we used an old book to collage bits of paper to,
and  then painted or collaged onto.

This is the final book of the stack.
I shared a few pages that I completed in it here

All but one of these journals was started in 2016.
So many pages yet to fill..... so little creative time!

About Little

Another Little Creation

made with layers of paper glued down
to a base of folded watercolour paper
with added gesso, paint and graphite

I am beginning to realize that I often work little
as I only have little bits of creative time.
I wonder if I would work bigger if I had big chunks of creative time?

In Love With Little - Part Two

I started this little journal early in the new year,
and shared some images then.

And here it is not even the middle of  February
and I have finished it!

I can strike one New Year's Resolution off the list already!

And that my friends is why I love working little!

(although I have already started 3 other new journals
- but none of them will be finished in 2016!)

More journal page creations from the online course
with Katie Kendrik - "Grit and Grace"

There are numerous assignments each week
that for now I am completing the ones that grab me
and I have time for - this may be a year long project!

I started another new journal
(I have SO many on the go right now!)
This one is an old book that I am collaging and painting on
..... trying for a looser style
and letting out whatever shows up.

I really enjoyed this exercise on a paper bag.

Tea Bags and Stamps

I am a little late in switching over from the day planner
I made last year (left) to the one I made for this year.

But it is ready to go for February 1st
which is the day I go back to work
after spending the month of January playing and relaxing.

I decorated the cover and pages with my hand carved stamps.

The system I used last year worked great,
so I am continuing in the same format.

I carry around 3 months of pages at a time,
and can add and remove the months of pages as needed.

A system to help keep me smiling and organized for the year!

Grit and Grace

I am taking an online course
I love Katie's paintings.

I created this journal page by sticking down collage paper
and did my best to let it direct me to this final stage.

Journal page #2 was the same process
although all of my collage bits seemed to get covered with paint.

Looseness is not in my comfort zone,
I need to work on it.

Decided to do a page a bit more inside my comfort zone,
although I did use some techniques shown in the course.

I will continue to push myself outside my comfort zone
.....  maybe tomorrow.

In Love with Little

A new year made me want to make a new book to play in.

And to make sure I finish it this year
I made it really tiny.

I am really enjoying working little.

And I have already finished 5 pages....

and the book only has 8 pages.

I also love the beautiful lettering on the front and the back.
My sister was doing a calligraphy demonstration,
and I absconded with the papers that she was getting rid of.
Her lettering was of course beautiful and tidy....
.... I grunged them up for the cover.
