Enjoyment

I am afraid there is little new here, as I continue to enjoy creating with tea bags, collage, transfers, ink, pen, pastels, paint and whatever else happens to be close at hand at my messy art desk.  And once I finish there I play around on my computer. That is how the piece above was created.

The pieces below were made by my hand with much enjoyment.

and I couldn't resist a bit more of computer play.

All of the above art was created from this simple photograph I took (with the above creations in mind when I took it) on a enjoyable walk with my daughter over the Christmas season.

Before my daughter returned to university, she asked if I could make her some bookmarks that she could give as small gifts to some friends.  I enjoyed my afternoon making these bookmarks from my tea bag creations.  Yes fun was had.... lots of fun.
Such Enjoyment!

Fundraising

My daughters hockey team is having a silent auction fundraiser, and so I made a new picture to donate.
It is a mixed media piece created on a tea bag.

I then added a white mat to go around it

and it is ready to go.

I am also donating this hand made book

and one of my necklaces with a handmade bezel I made that I filled with river rocks.

While I was creating, I made this piece as well

That I put in a white mat....

and a frame, and hung it on my wall, where I have decided it will stay.

Continuing On

This week I have enjoyed playing with some photos I took, tea bags, collaging and mark making.

I then put the pieces into a mat. I like the way they look surrounded by a large area of white.

This close up shows a bit of the layering of the piece.

ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOTE......
I don't know if anyone has taken the Life Book 2012 course.  But I have been thinking about taking the Life Book 2013 course.  If you haven't heard about it, you can check out the following link.   If you have taken the course, I would love to see what you have created!

Cherish the Small Things

I love creating small items, but this lovely creation was not made by me but rather gifted to me by my blogging friend Micki.

The outside has this wonderful face that she created

and inside the perfect words.... "cherish the small things".

This lovely little gift that I so cherish, arrived at my house when I was first laying on my couch trying to heal from a concussion. It brightened my day and made me smile. It continues to make me smile and reminds me constantly of the important things in life.

It has been 2 weeks today since I received this concussion, and the symptoms are still with me - headaches, dizzyness, fatigue and some struggle with thinking. I continue to get better, just not as quickly as I would like.

I have not been as creative as I would like to be, but wanted to share this small thing with you that I created a little while ago.

It is a small accordian book

that opens up to contain some images of flowers I drew.

It is as usual covered with tea bags. (I LOVE tea bags!)

In my mind I have another tea bag creation in the works.... I just hope I am able to create it in real life soon!

Bird on a Block

I still am enjoying working in this style.... but instead of working in a mini book...

this was created on a wooden block. I added some pheasant feathers to it that my husband got from a friend. There are no pheasants around my neck of the woods.

It has the words "silent findings" in the top corner.

I love how it looks on the ledge as I climb the stairs to my home studio.

The back view - that I signed and titled.
I debated putting a hanger on the back, but in the end left it this way.

I still feel like there are more of these types of creations in me yet.... so I will continue and following the muse where she leads me.

ETSY UPDATE: I have added the above necklace as well as the bird on a block to my Etsy Shop..... The shop is taking me a long time to get it to a state that I am happy with, hopefully I will get it there soon!

For The Love Of Birds

I do love birds... although I do know people that don't. I have enjoyed drawing them, and couldn't resist to use my drawings again in 2 small books.

I also love working small, and this book is pretty tiny.

But will look lovely sitting on a small shelf.

The other one I made is a bit taller, but actually only opens into a V shape (so not really a book)

but also will stand nicely on a small shelf.

I continue to LOVE working on these pieces as well as how they turned out!

P.S. For those of you that have been asking about where I am selling items, I am presently working on setting up an Etsy shop. I will let you know when it is ready.

Loving It.....

"To be successful, the first thing you must do

is fall in love with your work."

Sister Mary Lauretta

(From Misty Mawn's book "Unfurling")

This book sits on top of our piano, and I have been itching to make a similar one. So using some drawings I did in the past, as well as the ones I drew a week or so ago, I made a new accordian book.
Here is the frontcover, when it is all tied up and waiting to be opened and explored.

And the back cover.....

And when it is open, you can see all of its contents, at once....

or look at it...

bit .....

by bit.

I really enjoyed making this, and am LOVING how it turned out!
