Notebooks with Extra Pages

I have just finished making

 a few small notebooks

that are secured with an elastic when closed.

These soft covered notebooks

are decorated front and back 

with hand decorated paper and my carved stamps.

My thinking is that they would be perfect to tuck inside

a purse or a bag for note taking.

I have designed them so that when 

the pages are filled with notes,

they can be removed from the cover

by simply slipping them out

and replacing the pages with a new set of pages.  

 

I have made an extra set of pages for each notebook....

and am wondering if I should make 2 extra sets.

But until I decide

I am happy to report this one small project that has been 

in my brain for some time is now complete.

Letting in Some Light

I needed to create today.... 

even though I had many chores that were supposed to get done. 

So I took a piece of my handmade paper

added layers of paint

and then with pencil, charcoal and pen had some fun creating.

I put it behind a mat to see if it was finished

and after some small tweaks, decided it was. 

The process of creating brightens my day.

Patterned Pages Experiments

I finally finished putting together this book

that I started long ago. 

I coloured all of the pages, but wasn't really happy with them
as they are not as smooth as I had hoped. 
And so they sat in a my studio for a long time.

After some time passed, I decided to make the pages into a book
 as I had first planned

and am happy with how it turned out in the end.

So learning from the first book
I challenged myself to make another one.

and here are the patterned papers from my previous post
now become these patterned pages.

 I am much happier with how these pages turned out.

I also added some envelopes to each signature

that become pockets to store bits in.

Creative experiments don't always go as planned, 

but I enjoy that it leads me to places of new discovery. 

A Few Finished Bits

A couple of my experiments that I posted about last week, 

have finally been made into journals.

 

 These bits became the covers

of this soft covered journal.

While this little piece.....

became of the cover of this little book.

I am hopeful that I will soon be able 

to share my plans for these bits.

and I know her book 

will be filled with beauty and wonder filled creations

I was thrilled when she asked me to make a piece for the book. 

Below is just a bit of what I created.

Creative Experimentation

 

I have been busy with creative experiments lately.

I often find when this happens that one project 

 leads to another....

 

which leads to another....

and nothing gets finished

and I still have jewelry bits laying about waiting for some attention. 

 

But since we know snow will arrive any day,

daughter and I headed out for one more exploration

before winter settled in.

Her creative experimentation included perspectives of the mountain

from the middle of the road.

 

while I was enthralled by the patterns on the mountains.
